Preserving the Noble Guardian
A breed association dedicated to responsible ownership, ethical breeding, accurate registration, and the preservation of the Presa Canario for generations to come.
One Breed. Many Voices. One Community.
A new step forward in the evolution of the Presa Canario.
The APCA was created with a simple but powerful vision: to bring the entire Presa Canario community together under a shared commitment to education, health, preservation, responsibility, and progress.
We believe the future of this breed should never belong to just one voice, one group, or one ideology. The Presa Canario is bigger than politics, bigger than cliques, and stronger when its community works together.
Whether you are a breeder, competitor, working-dog enthusiast, show exhibitor, trainer, or simply someone who loves and shares your life with a Presa Canario, there is a place for you here.
Our mission is to promote greater awareness and education throughout the community while encouraging responsible breeding practices, improved health testing, proper temperament, functional structure, training, and the preservation of the qualities that make the Presa Canario the incredible breed it is.
We recognize that every part of the community plays an important role in the breed's future.
The show people build visibility.
The working people preserve purpose.
The pet owners create reputation.
The breeders create the future.
The American Presa Canario Association is committed to creating an environment where knowledge can be shared, ideas can be discussed, and progress can be made—without unnecessary division.
This is about honoring where the breed came from while having the courage to move forward.
This is about protecting the Presa Canario today while building a stronger future for generations to come.
One Breed. Many Voices. One Community.
Welcome to the next step in the evolution of the Presa Canario.
Preserving the Past. Protecting the Future. Educating the Community.
The Mission
APCA exists as a steward of the breed — not a vendor of paperwork. Every registration, evaluation, and educational resource serves one purpose: to keep the Presa Canario sound in body, stable in mind, and true to the working heritage of the Canary Islands.
Our work rests on six pillars that guide how records are kept, how breedings are encouraged, and how owners are supported for the life of their dog.
Preserve the traditional Presa Canario and its defining characteristics.
Maintain accurate and transparent registration and pedigree records.
Encourage ethical breeding decisions based on temperament, health, structure, and function.
Give owners and breeders access to reliable breed information and educational resources.
Create opportunities for evaluations, showcases, events, and community engagement.
Promote lifelong responsibility for the breed and the dogs entrusted to its owners.
The Breed
The Anatomy of a Monument
The Presa Canario is more than an appearance. It is the combination of structure, temperament, movement, working ability, and heritage — each inseparable from the rest.
Registry
Records that preserve more than a name.
Registration documents lineage, ownership, and breeding records — building the historical record of the breed one verified entry at a time.
Verification
Verify registration records and explore documented lineage.
Try APCA-000401 — a sample record with a full four-generation pedigree
Health
Transparency. Testing. The future of the breed.
APCA encourages documented health testing and informed breeding decisions. Results submitted with documentation appear on a dog's public registry profile, so that the data behind a pedigree is as visible as the names.
